Overview
Mr. Ranni is Special Employment Counsel on the Litigation Team. His primary practice has been dedicated to prosecuting and defending employment discrimination, sexual harassment, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), civil rights, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADEA), and NYSE/NASD matters. He also handles corporate human resource policies, employment contract negotiations as well as preparation or review of severance agreements. Mr. Ranni also litigates insurance, personal injury and disability matters. Joe currently is presiding Justice
for the town of Chester.
Mr. Ranni is a member of the Trial Lawyers Section and Committee on Issues effecting Persons with Disabilities of the New York State Bar Association; National Employment Lawyers Association; Orange County Bar Association; New Jersey State Bar Association and Florida State Bar Association; The United States District Court, Southern District of New York Mediation Program; New York State Surrogate Decision-Making Committee; New York State Nursing Home Ombudsperson and several local civic organizations.He is also the President of the Sugar Loaf Community Foundation.
Mr. Ranni is a 1984 graduate of the State University of New York at Albany where he obtained his BA degrees in both Economics and Political Science. He received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1987 from Brooklyn Law School and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1987. He is also admitted to practice law in the States of Florida (1999) and New Jersey (2000).
He is admitted in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York; District Court of New Jersey and the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. He was admitted to the United States Supreme Court in 1991. Mr. Ranni was a Managing Partner of a successful firm in lower Manhattan from 1994 to 2001 and split his time in solo practice between Orange County and New York City between 2001 and 2005. Mr. Ranni continues to practice in our mid-town office, located next to Grand Central Station.
