Hired Law firm 2025-2026I’m first and foremost grateful to God for helping me get through an extremely difficult situation with a tenant who stopped paying rent. Finding the right lawyer in NYC was not easy—I did extensive research and spoke with several attorneys, and honestly, there aren’t a lot of great options out there, especially when it comes to defending landlords. These cases are tough, and you really need someone who knows what they’re doing. After speaking with several lawyers, Seth Rosenfeld was the clear choice. From the very first conversation, he stood out. He immediately calmed me down during a very stressful time and gave me confidence that I was in the right hands. This was not an easy case by any means, but Seth handled it with professionalism, persistence, and real expertise. He guided me every step of the way and made a difficult process much more manageable. Seth is everything you want in an attorney—knowledgeable, highly responsive, and surprisingly affordable. He truly goes above and beyond for his clients. I can’t recommend Seth Rosenfeld highly enough. If you’re a landlord dealing with a difficult tenant in NYC, he’s the guy you want on your side.

Consulted Law firm 2023Hired to take care of an eviction. Took the money, filed the papers in the wrong court, made a complete mess of the situation. Save your money. Go to someone else. Any good reviews are probably posted by friends or employees.

Hired Law firm 2018I hired him to answer a summons from a former landlord of my daughter. He asked for a retainer of 1500 dollars . I called him numerous time to let me know what happened with the case and which were his fees. I dont think that 1500 dollars will be a fee to answer a summon. Has past three years and never got a call or an email. I just feel that he took my money.DO NOT HIRE HIM!!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
