I AM A REAL PERSON! I am an African American Woman who searched for this attorney online, no referral. You can call me personally to confirm the experience I am writing, in real time, 516-208-8913. DO NOT USE NATHAN DECORPO! I beg you to heed to my warning. He took allllll of our money and did NOTHING! My nephew is 16 years old and was facing serious charges in Suffolk. He did not fight for my nephew and said his wife was a previous district attorney and could help facility a better outcome regarding plea. He stated he was familiar with Judge Camacho as well. Welp, my nephew received 3 years adult jail upstate for a b-b gun victim injury as a first offender. He literally showed up to court, signed in, came out after briefly speaking to the DA and Judge and said this is the best deal, $1800 later. He charged us $3500 to come to the same conclusion as the public defender (who fought better). Their spill on their page about "Helping Juveniles" is a lie. My nephews life was on the line and he showed no moral compass. Not to mention their secretaries are horrible! He claimed he never received ANY of the phone calls we made to submit character reference letters for my nephew and court is on 5/16/19, 3 days away. I literally had to go off on the secretary, have her put Elliot, another attorney on the phone, who had to text him (as he left for the day after receiving 6 calls from me unanswered), to have him call me on his personal phone. I am so MAD that I ever contacted this attorney office. If they were surgeons, my nephew would be DEAD! DO NOT USE THIS FIRM!!!!!!!

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
