Hired Attorney 2024-2026I hired Brian K. Condon of Condon Paxos PLLC in October 2023. Three years later he destroyed all three of my active legal cases and left me with hundreds of thousands in damages. He waited 14 months to file a lawsuit for me -- by then my tenant had already stolen $150,000 in equipment from my property. Gone forever because of his delay. He directed me to send a mass mailing in an active lawsuit then admitted IN WRITING it was an ethical violation that could cost him his license. He made me pay to fix his own mistake out of my own pocket. He missed a critical federal court deadline without ever telling me. Then quit all three of my active cases the same day -- leaving me with a 7 day deadline to save my federal case. He then sent me a bill for $48,000 for work that caused me nothing but damage. He charged me three times the market rate for simple contract reviews alone. When I tried to resolve this fairly and offered him money to settle -- he ignored every offer. Instead he went behind my back and told attorneys I was trying to hire negative things about me -- causing them all to walk away from representing me. He did not just do a bad job. He overbilled me for it and then actively made it impossible for me to find someone to fix his mess. I have filed a formal complaint with the New York State Attorney Grievance Committee and am pursuing a $2 million malpractice lawsuit against him. Save yourself the pain -- do your research before hiring this attorney.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
