    Hired Law firm 2017-2022
I hired Scott Frendel to represent me in a W Comp concerning a neck injury I suffered at work leaving me with two herniated disc’s. Six years have gone by and I have not heard one word from this lawyer. I recently contacted the firm asking for status and also asked to close out my case and request a settlement that’s when I finally received a nasty call from this attorney. He stated that my case is not worth anything, I didn’t lose time from work he has nothing in my file and basically blew me off. When I mentioned I’ve been seeing the doctor that he referred me to all along maybe he should reach out to him and ask about his close out review. He was as rude as it gets saying, are you not listening to me your case has no value, giving me no guidance or direction at all. Here I am with two bulging disc’s in my lower neck causing, on and off numbness and pain down my right arm, when I turn to him for guidance he absolutely ostracised me. In the six years this case has been going on he has not one time updated me until I recently inquired status. Wow!!! I’m speechless!!!!!!!!

Was with this firm for a year. Have a serious cervicales problem . After COVID 19 Called them and leave so many messages asking for help in June and since then they never answer any of my calls or messages , the secretary always told me my paralegal Daniella was in court and never call me back . Now when I need they’re help I’m in my own.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
