Hired Attorney 2022-2025So I have no idea how he got 3 stars. He’s amazing, attentive, caring and strategic. Besides that’s he’s knowledgeable in laws and loopholes. I even referred him to my friends. He’s like “You could’ve done it but that doesn’t make you guilty” you have to prove things and they have to show how they obtained things. He’s sooooooo good

Hired Attorney 2025Terrible lawyer and in this job field for the money, not to actual practice law or even help his clients. He will leave you in jail and miss your scheduled appointments and give you lawyer like excuses. Stay far away from this guy I wouldn’t even hire him for a j walking ticket !

Hired Attorney 2006-2024Mr. Donaldson is a fantastic lawyer. He has represented my company for over 15 years and in my opinion, there isn't a better attorney at law in N.Y.C.

Hired Attorney 2019-2022He is non responsive and disrespectful. He also has not been truthful in the handing of my legal matters. Avoid this attorney and law firm at all costs!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
