Attorney Information

Overview

Anjula Prasad litigates a wide variety of cases, with a particular focus on white collar criminal defense. Her experience includes successfully guiding clients through all stages of regulatory investigations and enforcement actions, as well as representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of complex commercial disputes, where her extreme attention to factual and legal detail, along with her keen ability to understand the emotional needs of clients, has contributed to the firm’s success.

Recent matters include:
Acquittal after nine-week jury trial on all counts for former Chief Financial Officer of Platinum Partners, indicted on five counts of securities, investment adviser, and wire fraud.

Successful appeal and reversal by New Jersey Supreme Court of administrative law judge denial of compensation under Spill Fund Act.

Successful representation of an individual accused of assisting in a multi-million-dollar embezzlement scheme against large national bank by persuading SDNY not to file charges.

Dismissal of a federal indictment charging a $17 million pump and dump scheme.

Convincing the New Jersey Attorney General’s office not to charge a large financial adviser following a two-year investigation into the sufficiency of its disclosures of Puerto Rico board holdings.

Anjula worked closely with one or more of the principles of the firm for almost a decade before the inception of Ford O'Brien Landy LLP in 2015, where she has worked since. Prior to that, Anjula worked in the music entertainment industry for several years, which included legal consulting at both mega-publishing companies and record labels, negotiating recording and publishing deals on behalf of artists, and litigating a variety of industry-related copyright and trademark issues.

Anjula earned her undergraduate degree from Carleton College with a major in chemistry. She graduated from Fordham Law School, concentrating her studies in Intellectual Property as well as Public Interest law, where she received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award for her pro bono work in public service. Anjula is admitted to the bars of New York State and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Outside of her legal practice, Anjula studies Indian Classical music. She is an accomplished singer, performing both live and studio recordings of kirtan, call and response chanting rooted in the Hindu tradition.
