New York Employment Law Lawyer

Overview

Courtney Deblois Esq. is an accomplished corporate law and labor and employment attorney with a unique perspective gained from her prior experience as in-house counsel for an international inter-dealer brokerage firm on Wall St. in Manhattan, NY. With several years of experience working at a highly regulated financial institution, Courtney brings a deep understanding of the complexities of regulatory and employment law in the corporate context and has a proven track record of success in advising and representing the corporation in a variety of employment-related matters.

During her time as corporate counsel, Courtney provided advice and guidance for the company on a wide range of employment issues, including discrimination, harassment, and employee relations. Moreover, she successfully assisted in a settlement deal with the Securities Exchange Commission for an alleged broker-dealer securities violation concerning short sales transactions under the Securities Exchange Act. Courtney successfully represented her former corporation in a variety of employment law and litigation matters, including the enforcement of post-employment restrictive covenants, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, unfair and deceptive trade practices, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour disputes. This experience has given her a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by employers and the strategies corporations utilize to mitigate risk and protect their employees.

She received her Juris Doctor from New York Law School and is admitted to practice law in New York. In law school, she attended a summer 2017 London study abroad program focusing on international corporate governance and financial law. In addition, she was on the election board as competition chair for the Alternative Dispute Resolution team. She led the team to national success at the 2019 American Bar Association Arbitration Competition. Courtney obtained extensive mediation training by participating in the New York Law School Mediation Clinic and mediated disputes in New York county court, small claims court, and civil division, as well as at the New York Peace Institute.

Before becoming an attorney, Courtney was raised in North Carolina and belonged to a military family. At her undergraduate university in South Carolina, she played National Collegiate Athletics Association Division 1 women’s soccer and was actively involved in the school’s student leadership program.

At Tully Rinckey, Courtney is a member of our employment law team and is dedicated to helping clients achieve their goals through strategic and effective legal representation. Her prior experience equips her with the unique ability to offer valuable employer perspectives and to provide each of her clients with innovative solutions to complex legal challenges.
