Overview
Leslie D. Kelmachter, Esq., received her Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Albany Law School. She is an accomplished and highly respected trial attorney with decades of experience representing plaintiffs in complex medical malpractice, personal injury, and product liability cases.
In 2025, Ms. Kelmachter assumed the year-long position of President of the Kings County Nathan R. Sobel Chapter of the American Inns of Court. During the 2011–2012 term, she served as President of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA). She currently serves as a Director on the Association’s Board. For many years, she was a Dean of the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute and now holds the title of Dean Emeritus.
Ms. Kelmachter has also served as Chair of the Tort Litigation Committee of the New York City Bar Association and as a Member of the Judiciary Committee of the New York City Bar Association. These leadership roles reflect her longstanding influence and stature within the legal community.
Throughout her career, Ms. Kelmachter has achieved outstanding results for her clients, frequently securing substantial seven- and eight-figure verdicts and settlements in medical malpractice, personal injury, and product liability matters. A mother of two, she is particularly devoted to representing children who have been injured or disabled as a result of birth trauma, medical negligence, or other serious misconduct.
Ms. Kelmachter is also an author and nationally recognized lecturer. Her published work includes a chapter in The Plaintiff’s Personal Injury Action in New York, published by the New York State Bar Association. She has also authored annual synopses of developments in pleadings and venue for NYSTLA Decisions. She is frequently invited to lecture on trial advocacy, medical malpractice litigation, and victims’ rights, and she regularly serves as a legal expert.
She leads the firm with experience, professionalism, integrity, and compassion.
