Overview
Matthew F. Schwartz is a graduate of the University of Virginia (B.A., 1988) and Fordham University School of Law (J.D., 1991). He is a member of the New York Bar.Matthew practices in all areas of civil litigation with a concentration in legal malpractice. Matthew began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney's office. While at the District Attorney's office, Matthew gained extensive trial experience in a variety of criminal matters. After leaving the D.A.'s office, Matthew was associated with the law firm of Jones Hirsch Connors & Bull. At Jones, Hirsch, Matthew established himself as a civil litigator in the areas of professional liability, premises liability, surety and subrogation litigation, and securities litigation. From 1996 to 2005, Matthew worked at Siller Wilk LLP, where he had responsibility for matters covering the full range of civil litigation with an emphasis on attorney malpractice. Matthew co-founded the law firm of Schwartz & Ponterio, PLLC in 2005 with partner John Ponterio. Matthew has trial experience in both civil and criminal matters.
