Attorney Information

Overview

Peter has represented thousands of clients in criminal and employment matters throughout the metropolitan New York area over the past 20 years. After six years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the Bronx District Attorney, Peter spent the last 14 years representing clients in all manner of cases pending in the courts of the metropolitan New York area in matters that concerned allegations of assault, menacing, domestic violence, driving while intoxicated, weapons possession, drug possession, sexual abuse and assault, official corruption, white collar crime, and homicides. In doing so, he has represented clients in every facet of their criminal matters, whether it be investigatory, arrest, arraignment, motion practice, pre-trial hearings, or trial. During that period, Peter has also litigated disciplinary matters before the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) and the New York City Civil Service Commission (NYCCSC), establishing himself as one of the most experienced practitioners in either forum.
With each client, whether in the state or federal courts, OATH, or the NYCCSC or other arbitrations, Peter takes pride in knowing that his clients know more than most attorneys when they enter into a courtroom. That is because his more than 20 years of practice has reinforced the basic principle that people make the best decisions when they have the best information. That is achieved by establishing open, honest, and consistent lines of communication so as to best inform the client and arrive at the best course of action.
Peter is also a member of the Bronx Bar Association’s Judiciary Committee, tasked with investigating, reporting, and voting on judicial candidates seeking appointment or election to judicial positions in the County of the Bronx. He is licensed in the State of New York, the federal courts of the Southern District of New York and also those of the Eastern District of New York. Peter grew up in Europe, living in Germany, Belgium, England and France before returning to the United States. He is a graduate of Hobart College and New York Law School.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
