Renée C. Hill is an extremely accomplished trial attorney who has been defending clients from all walks of life for over twenty-five years. Throughout the boroughs of New York City, Westchester County and Orange County, Ms. Hill has tried over one hundred cases including several high-profile matters, ranging from homicides to minor assaults. Some of her clientele include persons in the entertainment industry and radio personalities. Ms. Hill began her career as a Criminal Defense Attorney in 1992 when she became an associate with The Law Offices of Murray Richman. Under Mr. Richman’s tutelage, she honed her trial skills and courtroom presence which led to her achieving excellent results for her clients. Having caught the attention of many of her colleagues, she was named as one of the “top hot new attorneys in the Criminal Justice area” by the New York Post (November 26, 2000).

In late, 2011, Ms. Hill partnered with Stacey Richman, Esq. to form Richman Hill & Associates, PLLC. Ms. Hill also served as the Acting Justice of the Village of Harriman Court from September, 2008 to April, 2015. Ms. Hill appears regularly as a guest on Court TV providing legal commentary on the most relevant cases occurring around the country. How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
