Review of Attorney Jill Levi – A Disturbing Lack of Ethics, Integrity, and Professionalism As a co-trustee and fiduciary of a family trust, I am obligated by law—and guided by basic moral responsibility—to ensure transparency and accountability when trust funds are spent. Over $30,000 was paid to RJ Interiors, a contractor represented by attorney Jill Levi, yet when I requested legally required documentation (such as itemized invoices, contractor license, and tax ID), I was met not with professionalism, but with aggression, retaliation, and unethical conduct. Ms. Levi refused to provide the detailed receipts required under New York General Business Law § 771, instead sending a vague proposal with no labor or material breakdown and asserting that’s all I was entitled to. This is not only factually incorrect under the law, but also deeply troubling for any attorney tasked with upholding legal and ethical standards. What followed was worse. In response to my lawful fiduciary inquiry, Ms. Levi sent an email that was openly hostile and personally demeaning, including the following statements: “You have nothing better to do than to play lawyer through the use of AI.” “Perhaps you will be sent to jail… that will result in a cessation of such irrational, bizarre and malicious actions.” “Alternatively, you could get some professional help.” “Stop with your threats and frivolous legal actions.” These words are not the conduct of a principled attorney. They reflect a disturbing abuse of position, lack of emotional restraint, and complete disregard for civility, ethics, and the public trust. Her comments were especially egregious given that I was defending my minor child following an assault and simply requesting records I am entitled to as a fiduciary. Ms. Levi’s behavior raises serious concerns under the New York Rules of Professional Conduct, including: Rule 4.4(a): Harassment and embarrassment of others Rule 8.4(c): Dishonesty and misrepresentation Rule 8.4(d): Conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice Rule 8.4(h): Conduct reflecting adversely on fitness to practice law Such conduct is not just legally questionable, but morally indefensible. It undermines public faith in the legal profession and erodes the ethical standards attorneys are sworn to uphold. This review is based entirely on documented communications and publicly known facts. It is protected speech under the First Amendment and New York’s anti-SLAPP laws (Civil Rights Law § 70-a; CPLR § 3211(g)), which protect individuals from retaliatory defamation threats when they speak out on matters of public concern. ⚠️ Final Note to the Public: If you are a trustee, estate administrator, property owner, or legal consumer, I urge you to exercise caution in dealings with Jill Levi or RJ Interiors. The lack of transparency, refusal to follow basic legal documentation requirements, and Ms. Levi’s hostile, unprofessional responses are a red flag for anyone expecting honesty, integrity, or basic legal ethics. — M. Feinstein, Co-Trustee July 2025

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
