Richard C. Brister - Rochester, NY

Rick Brister is a Senior Counsel in Tully Rinckey PLLC’s Rochester office. Rick focuses his practice on civil litigation and manages a diverse docket, including personal injury defense, SIR and insurance defense for construction companies, amusement park defense, premises liability, product liability, and large-loss subrogation. He has represented municipalities in union contract negotiations, employment disputes, police officer terminations, and general advisory roles in municipal legal matters.

He has practiced before state and appellate courts in the Third and Fourth Judicial Departments and the Court of Appeals, Albany.

Rick earned his bachelor’s degree in advertising from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, and his juris doctorate from the South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, in 1996. While in law school, Rick authored “Changing of the Guard: A Case for Privatization of Texas Prisons,” which was published in The Prison Journal in 1996.

Rick and his family moved to New York in 2007. He lives in Pittsford, NY, with his wife and two daughters. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Monroe County Bar Association.
