Overview
Rebecca is an attorney in the Employment, Labor & Discrimination and Immigration Practice Groups. With expertise in labor and employment law and employment-based immigration, she is able to provide extensive representation to both employers and employees on issues that span a broad range of workplace concerns.
As a certified mediator, she brings a collaborative, solution-focused approach to her law practice, and an ability to listen well and understand her clients’ interests and needs.
Employment, Labor and Discrimination
Rebecca works with clients to help minimize potential liabilities, by anticipating and addressing employment issues, and helping to set policies that ensure compliance with relevant federal and state laws and regulations. She provides assistance with employment contracts, employee handbook and policy development, unemployment claims and severance and release procedures and agreements.
Rebecca also advocates for employees in New York State on a wide range of matters, including individuals who have been passed over for a job or promotion or terminated based on age, sex, race, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation or disability; denied equal pay based on discrimination; denied fair representation by their union; harassed at work; wrongfully terminated; retaliated against for whistleblowing; denied rights under the Family Medical Leave Act; or denied pay or overtime.
Immigration
Rebecca focuses her immigration practice on employment-based visas, such as: EB-1, EB-2, H-1B, O-1, P-1, P-3, L, visas and TN applications. With a lifelong appreciation for the unique talents that foreign citizens contribute to American culture and to our economy, she is passionate about helping her clients successfully navigate the visa process. She also assists clients with dual citizenship matters.
A Syracuse native, Rebecca earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University, and her law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Prior to joining Bousquet Holstein, Rebecca served as Associate Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She has also served as Deputy Director of Development for the Reach Out and Read National Center in Boston, and as an attorney at the Ottinger Firm PC in New York City.
She currently serves on the Fayetteville-Manlius Board of Education and the Board of Directors of Medi Teddy Inc. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association (AILA), and an active member of the Central New York Women’s Bar Association.
