Attorney Information
Overview
Dick is a familiar face in local and state courts throughout the Syracuse area. With more than three decades of experience practicing law in upstate New York, he has a long record of helping Central New Yorkers with a variety of legal issues. Dick is the managing partner of the firm’s Syracuse office where he practices in civil litigation, business law, real estate law and estate planning.
Dick joined Tully Rinckey PLLC after operating a successful law practice in Syracuse where he handled everything from litigation to estate planning. He is also experienced in commercial and residential property transactions, representing litigants in such matters as title disputes, easements, zoning and environmental impact proceedings. He has successfully argued cases before appellate courts including a frequently cited case of first impression in which his client obtained jurisdiction over a non-domestic corporation using New York’s “long arm” statute.
Dick received his bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College and his juris doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law. He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served as a JAG officer and military judge. He is a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association, New York Bar Association, and American Bar Association. For many years, he has been a continuing legal education lecturer, covering such topics as real estate transactions, easements and rights of way, adverse possession, and road access law.
When not at work, Dick enjoys the outdoors of Central New York, skiing, sailing and running. Currently, he devotes his extra time serving as Vice President of Literacy Volunteers of Central New York.
