Samantha C. Riggi - Syracuse, NY

Ms. Riggi's trial practice focuses on cases sounding in medical malpractice, workplace accident, motor vehicle, product liability, wrongful death and severe personal injury matters.

Ms. Riggi has been recognized by The Best Lawyers In America® as one of its "Ones To Watch" for 2020-2023 for the areas of plaintiffs medical malpractice and personal injury. She is the only attorney under 40 in Syracuse with this distinction. Ms. Riggi has also been recognized by Upstate New York Super Lawyers® as a 2019-2022 "Rising Star."

Ms. Riggi sits on the Board of Directors of the Onondaga County Bar Association and the Central New York Women's Bar Association (CNYWBA). She is the CNYWBA delegate to the New York State Women's Bar Association. In 2022, Ms. Riggi received the Central New York Women's Bar Association Beacon Award, as a "leader whose spirit and service will drive the Central New York Women's Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York into the future."

Ms. Riggi authors the 1st Department Update for the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, and co-authors the "Civil Practice" chapter of the Syracuse Law Review’s Survey on New York law. She also serves as an Onondaga County Bar Association Volunteer Advocate Lawyer for Animal Abuse Court (VALAC), prepares dinners for the Ronald McDonald House "Meals that Heal" program, and is a member of the board of directors of Girls On The Run Upstate NY.

Ms. Riggi is a graduate of Siena College, magna cum laude, and Syracuse University College of Law, where she was a member and Associate Editor of the Syracuse Journal of International Law and Commerce and published "Who's Your Daddy: The International Market for American Sperm." In addition to the Journal of International Law and Commerce, Ms. Riggi is a past member of the Syracuse University College of Law Moot Court Honor Society, and was inducted into The Order of Barristers.

While in law school, Ms. Riggi won every trial and appellate competition she participated in, including the 42nd annual Edmund H. Lewis Appellate Advocacy Competition (winner; best final round advocate; highest-scoring brief), the 41st annual Edmund H. Lewis Appellate Advocacy Competition (winner; highest-scoring brief), and the 36th annual Lionel O. Grossman Trial Competition (winner).

Prior to joining Bottar Law, PLLC, Ms. Riggi served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Gary L. Sharpe, formerly the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, as a student attorney at the Saratoga County District Attorney's Office, and as an intern for (then) United States Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. She was also a litigation associate at a Syracuse law firm where she represented individuals and businesses in a variety of matters, including appeals, commercial disputes, and the defense of personal injury claims.

Born and raised just north of Albany, New York, Ms. Riggi presently resides in Skaneateles with her husband, Nick, a claims management specialist.
