Abbigail Lyn Peterson - Uniondale, NY

Lyn Peterson is an Associate Attorney at the Rizzuto Law Firm, where she focuses on nursing home neglect, elder abuse, and complex personal injury litigation. Lyn is passionate about protecting the rights of the elderly and vulnerable, holding negligent nursing homes and long-term care facilities accountable, and making sure families obtain justice for their loved ones. She also represents clients in car accidents, slip and fall and trip and fall accidents, premises liability, snow and ice cases, and other negligence claims.

Academic Excellence and Early Advocacy

Lyn’s commitment to advocacy is rooted in her academic background. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia — the nation’s top-ranked public high school — where she pursued advanced coursework and laboratory research that rivaled many universities. Her senior thesis focused on carbon capture and storage technologies, developed and tested in the school’s Chemical Analysis and Nanochemistry Laboratory.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, where her passion for justice took shape. While at Reed, Lyn worked with the Center for Health, Environment and Justice under the leadership of Lois Gibbs, the activist known as the “Mother of Superfund.” There, she co-drafted and coordinated the People’s Task Force on the Future of Superfund, which was endorsed by more than 100 environmental organizations and generated national and local media coverage. Her senior thesis examined how grassroots organizations mobilized in response to the Love Canal contamination crisis and how living near a Superfund site affects political attitudes and civic participation.
