Stay away from this lawyer! My son retained him for his divorce/custody case, he could never get ahold of him, his secretary always said he was in court, it took days to get through. He did not fight for my sons best interest, he always told him to settle or do what the law guardian proposes.Well guess what! We retained a new attorney and he IS getting what he wants! He is also very degrading on the phone, I witnessed a conversation my son had with him on speaker, he spoke to my son like he was unimportant and didn't have time for him. You can find a lawyer out there that will charge you one retainer that will cover everything. Keith nickle and dimes you for every phone call, email and text as well as meetings with the courts and other attorneys.

I have been working with Keith on and off for the past four years. He helped me through my divorce and now through other family matters as they keep popping up. Keith is very open and direct when working with you (which is what I like). He has always let me know exactly what to expect. He promptly returns emails/calls as expected. I keep coming back to work with Keith because I know he cares about getting the job done for me. Keith is upfront about costs; he has never guaranteed an amount but has given me ideas of what something will cost me.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
