Attorney Information
Overview
Rob Singer founded Singer Legal PLLC in 2018 with one focus: the delivery of compelling, passionate advocacy to all clients facing criminal, military, and administrative legal challenges.
Prior to opening his own firm, Rob served as a defense counsel, prosecutor, general counsel, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in various roles in the military, the Federal government, and in private practice.
Throughout his 20-year legal career, Rob has represented private clients or the United States in more than 40 jury and bench trials and in hundreds of administrative hearings and depositions. As a federal prosecutor, Rob directed investigations into high-profile and sensitive matters. As a Commander (O-5) in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, Rob is a Military Judge and has led legal teams as an Executive Officer, providing legal advice to military commanders both at home and deployed abroad. Rob also is a member of the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel in the Western District of New York and the Second Circuit, where he is appointed by the Court to represent indigent defendants in felony criminal trials and appeals.
Rob’s experience in the courtroom before judges and juries, in the military and government before commanders, law enforcement officers, and bureaucrats, and in the private sector lends him insight on what matters to decision-makers. Working together in collaboration with clients and expert consultants, Rob aims to leverage the experience and knowledge of his clients, his litigation team, and himself to ward off litigation and, if necessary, to present a convincing case to defeat legal adversaries, no matter who they are.
Rob was selected an Upstate New York SuperLawyer® (2021-2025) and received Avvo’s Client Choice Award (2018-2019 & 2021-2025). In his free-time, Rob enjoys spending time with his family and coaching youth hockey.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
