Attorney Information
Overview
For more than 30 years, Douglas A. Petho has dedicated his legal career to helping injured individuals and their families throughout North Carolina obtain the compensation they deserve. A Charlotte native, Doug joined Price, Petho & Associates in 1993 and has devoted his practice exclusively to representing plaintiffs in personal injury, wrongful death, workers' compensation, and serious accident litigation.
Doug has successfully tried hundreds of cases to jury verdict involving automobile accidents, trucking accidents, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, slip and fall injuries, dog attacks and animal-related injuries, intentional torts, workplace accidents, and other negligence claims. His extensive courtroom experience allows him to confidently take cases to trial when insurance companies refuse to make fair settlement offers, earning him a reputation as a skilled and determined advocate for injured victims.
Before entering private practice, Doug served as an Assistant District Attorney for North Carolina's First Judicial District under the Honorable H.P. Williams. During his time as a prosecutor, he handled both misdemeanor and felony cases across a seven-county district in Eastern North Carolina, gaining invaluable courtroom and trial experience that continues to benefit his clients today.
Throughout his career, Doug has represented thousands of injured clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and jury trials. He has served as an arbitrator in numerous insurance disputes and was selected to represent the plaintiffs' bar on the Mecklenburg County District Court Rules Committee. His litigation experience, combined with his practical approach to resolving cases, enables him to effectively advocate for clients while providing honest advice about the strengths and challenges of every claim.
Doug is the owner of Price, Petho & Associates, a Charlotte law firm that has represented accident victims since 1979. The firm has earned a reputation for providing personalized service, direct attorney involvement, and aggressive representation. Rather than handing cases off to support staff, Doug believes clients deserve regular communication and direct access to an experienced attorney throughout the legal process.
His practice focuses on:
- Motor vehicle accidents
- Tractor-trailer and commercial trucking accidents
- Motorcycle and pedestrian accidents
- Workers' compensation claims
- Wrongful death
- Premises liability and slip and fall accidents
- Dog bites and animal attacks
- Catastrophic injury and traumatic brain injury claims
- Uninsured and underinsured motorist claims
Doug has earned Martindale-Hubbell's prestigious AV Preeminent® rating, recognizing the highest levels of professional excellence, legal ability, and ethical standards. He is also proud that Price, Petho & Associates has been recognized by the Charlotte community as one of the area's leading personal injury law firms.
