Overview

Andrew J. ("Andy") Howell joined the firm in 2012 after serving as law clerk to the Honorable Samuel J. Ervin IV of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Andy is a native of Burnsville, North Carolina, where he attended the Yancey County Public Schools, graduating from Mountain Heritage High School in 2002. Following high school, Andy attended Appalachian State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology. Andy is a 2011 cum laude graduate of the Campbell University School of Law where he was a member of the Campbell Law Review. While in law school, Andy served as an intern to the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Since joining the firm, Andy has engaged in a general trial practice successfully handling numerous types of civil cases, including eminent domain, commercial and construction litigation, personal injury, property damage, bad faith insurance claims litigation, will contests, worker's compensation matters, and appellate matters. In his time at the firm, Andy has practiced in the North Carolina Superior Courts, North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.

Andy is a member of the Lake Hickory Rotary Club, a Club Representative for the Fred T. Foard High School Interact Service Club and has served as a "Lunch Buddy" for the Hickory Public Schools. Andy lives in Hickory with his wife Katherine.
