Overview

Charlotte grew up in Franklin County, North Carolina and graduated from Bunn High School in 2016, and went on to attend Appalachian State University. While there, Charlotte played varsity softball and fell in love with the mountains. In 2020, Charlotte graduated from Appalachian State Cum Laude where she received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Biology. From there, Charlotte headed deeper into the Appalachian Mountains to West Virginia College of Law. During her time at West Virginia, Charlotte served as the Vice President of the Marly E. Lugar Trial Association Team where she honed in on her leadership and advocacy skills. Additionally, Charlotte completed a summer internship with the West Virgina Legal Aid Office where she received foundational skills that dealt with legal topics such as divorce, domestic violence, property rights, and various other subjects. Charlotte also completed a clerkship with the West Virginia House of Delegates where she gained a well-rounded knowledge of legislative procedures that impact people and the law daily. In 2024, Charlotte obtained her Juris Doctorate and Master of Public Administration degree. Homesick, Charlotte returned to Franklin County and took a job with Tickle Law Office, PLLC where she passed the bar on her first try. Charlotte enjoys helping people, hiking, an occasional run outside, dad jokes, and learning new things.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
