Attorney Information
Overview
Angela L. Haas is an attorney/mediator who advocates for the use of alternative dispute resolution within the legal system. Her highly competitive nature stems from being a sports enthusiast and scholarship athlete; however, Angela prides herself in the philosophies of teamwork. Knowing that there is no "I" in team, she has become very effective at advocating for her clients in a manner that has everyone take something of value away from the process. Read Angela's article Settling Disputes Using The Collaborative Law Method explaining the process and benefits of using Collaborative Law.
Ms. Haas graduated with honors from Appalachian State University, where she received her undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Campbell University, and while attending law school, Angela received the highest honors in Legal Research & Appellate Advocacy, Trial Advocacy, and Leadership Theory & Practice. She was also a member of the Trial Advocacy Team, Moot Court Team, and Client Counseling Team (4th in the nation), for which she was selected as a National Member of the Order of Barristers. She also participated as a volunteer mediator in the District Court of Wake County, North Carolina and served as President of the Mediation in Advocacy Organization.
Ms. Haas' trial practice includes representing defendants in criminal district court, representing parents in DSS court, and representing plaintiffs and defendants involved in all types of family disputes. She is also highly dedicated to Alternative Dispute Resolution, specifically focusing on the practice of Collaborative Law. As a founding member of the Carolina Collaborative Law Group, Ms. Haas is committed to creating the most efficient and effective method for her clients to resolve their disputes.
Outside of the legal field, Angela has traveled the world from Europe to Japan, including a 3-month expedition in the Canadian Artic. She has coached volleyball on the high school and collegiate level and still enjoys the occasional pick-up match indoors or in the sand. She currently studies and practices Tae Kwon Do and enjoys the philosophy behind the workout. When she can sneak away long enough, golf is another favorite pastime.
Angela has taken several leadership trainings and has coached many individuals in the areas of making a difference in their own lives and in the lives of others. As co-founder of a "think tank" group that includes such members as Carolina C.A.R.E., Angela regularly meets with individuals and companies who work together to make a positive difference in their community and world.
When it comes to her clients, Ms. Haas offers a refreshing perspective on how to handle the challenges and opportunities that each client is faces. It is her sincere desire that the law firm of Haas McNeil & Associates, P.A. empowers the client so that he or she may walk away from the experience in a better place and headed in a direction that will support them in their lives.
