Bernard Richards, Jr. holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and History from The University of Georgia (1989) and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University (1993). He is certified by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization as a Specialist in Real Property - Residential, Business, Commercial and Industrial Transactions and has been so certified continuously since 2006. Rick has 22 years of experience in real property law including 6 years (1995-2001) as in-house counsel for a prominent, regional title insurance underwriter headquartered in North Carolina. As in-house counsel, he underwrote title insurance risks on a daily basis, compiled new and revised existing title underwriting manuals for company-wide use, authored several articles regarding real property issues which were published by the company as well as by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, and was a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars. Rick continues to lecture at continuing legal education seminars involving real property issues in North Carolina and is a member of the Real Property Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Attorney Section of the North Carolina Land Title Association. He works daily with title insurance underwriters, lenders, businesses, and individuals examining land titles, analyzing and drafting legal documents to close transactions and to resolve various disputes involving real property.
