Hired Attorney Dylan Statler 2024-2026Dylan handled my disability case with such ease and professionalism. Simple and clear instructions were given on what was needed of me, and in turn I was able to concentrate on my family and appointments. I had no stress at all while speaking with him or his team members, and strongly recommend his services. I felt like a human and not a number, and the empathy he carries shines through. When they say that sometimes words are never enough, I truly mean it. Thank you Mr. Statler and team!

Hired Attorney Joel D. Cavanaugh 2019-2024I would NOT use Joel! He is an incompetent attorney who does not investigate or listen. He is slow as to receive more money. My case should have never dragged on so long. With all the amazing attorneys in Akron and surrounding areas, Joel and HOBSON RASNICK FOX & KOLLIGIAN, LLC - Akron, OH is one I would avoid!

Consulted Law firm 1997-2024In addition to my review of Joel Cavanaugh, I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for Sharon Dyer who works in Mr. Cavanaugh's office. We have interacted with her in the past when we were consulting with John Rasnick. I am so glad she has stayed with the firm. She has helped us very much in terms of communication with the practice--making it smooth and fitting our needs.

Hired Attorney Joel D. Cavanaugh 2024Had taken over our legal business (estate planning) after the passing of John Rasnick (who was wonderful with us). Did not know what to expect with Joel, who took over Mr. Rasnick's account. We were absolutely at peace with Mr. Cavanaugh! He had already looked at our previous plan and was very well prepared to help us. He made sure he understood what our concerns were. He explained everything in very easily comprehended language. I cannot recommend him enough!!!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
