Overview
Karen Shaw graduated Kent State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and with top honors. She later received her Juris Doctor Degree from Case Western Reserve School of Law. Afterwards, Karen clerked for Federal Judge Solomon Oliver, Jr.
In 1996, Karen joined the Progressive Corporation, where she was entrusted with corporate responsibility. A year later, she passed the Ohio Bar exam and was promoted to Corporate Compliance Attorney. In this role, Karen primarily worked in the Corporate Law Department with responsibility for drafting policies and maintaining legal compliance of personal lines forms for auto, special lines and homeowner’s products. She gained experience with regulatory work and developed relationships with state insurance departments, while assisting in product development and implementation, later taking on a managerial role. In 2003, Karen moved to Corporate Claims Legal Department to gain claims experience and assist in NY claims development and legal compliance.
Karen Shaw joined The Nash Group in 2005 as attorney and consultant, specializing in insurance regulation. Her primary areas of responsibility include forms drafting, rule manual development and insurance regulatory compliance management. As a Senior Attorney, Karen assumes project lead responsibilities on most 50-state compliance research projects.
