    Hired Attorney 2024-2025
Working with Mimi Yoon was okay in the beginning, but quickly went south. I had never dealt with a legal matter before and I feel like this really hurt me in regards to her being my "attorney". I feel like Mimi took my case, offered me a solution with the defendant that was not actually viable or could be held responsible for, and simply stopped returning my calls and emails when I was left confused and highly unsatisfied with the outcome of the case. I felt very poorly guided and informed on how everything actually worked and how the defendant would be able to completely go against what deal was made, and get away with it at that. I continuously tried to get the case up and going again to no avail. I even reached out to Mimi's superior to talk with him about my frustrations and what I was wanting to have done with my case his response was "this is a conversation I think you should be having with Mimi" as if she hadn't completely stopped responding to my calls, voicemails, and emails. The gentleman offered absolutely no viable solution and went as far as to make excuses for Mimi for why things may have turned out the way they did. With such a serious position as an attorney there is absolutely NO excuse or reason for her to completely stop responding to my requests for communication. There is no excuse for offering me a deal that she knew she would not be able to legally hold up. Also Mimi was my court appointment prosecutor, she was not hired, she was unfortunately who I was stuck with in prosecuting the defendant.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
