Ronald W. Dougherty - Canton, OH

Ron, a native of Canton, Ohio, is a senior partner of Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A. He was the third member of the law firm, served as the managing partner for 17 years and has been instrumental in the firm’s steady growth. His practice encompasses numerous areas, with emphasis in civil litigation, general business representation, and estate planning.

Ron received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Virginia Law School. He is a member of the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and past president of the Stark County Bar Association where he currently serves on the Long-Range Planning Committee. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation and a Life Fellow of the American Bar Association. Ron has also served as Assistant Solicitor for the City of Canton and, for twenty-six years, served as Chairman of the Stark County Public Defender Commission until 2002.

Ron has also been very active with the Ohio State Bar Association serving for six years on the Board of Governors, as Chair of the Budget and Headquarters Committee, and for eight years on the Board of Directors of the Ohio State Bar Foundation and served as it’s 2003 President. He is a member of a number of other state bar committees, including the Litigation Section Board of Governors, Media Law Committee, and Family Law Committee. He is a life member of the U.S. 6th Circuit Judicial Conference, and has served as a member of five selection panels for Federal Magistrate and Bankruptcy Judges.

He serves on the Board of Directors for a number of companies including Alfred Nickles Bakery. Ron is the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and recently retired from the Board of FirstMerit Bank.

Ron is very active in a variety of community activities. He has been closely involved with the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival since it was organized in 1965, was a member of the original committee which raised the funds to build the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and has served as chairman of a number of committees including General Chairman of the Festival in 1992. For several decades, Ron has been General Counsel for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he also served as interim Excecutive Director of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005 and 2006: he currently is chairman of the Hall's Board of Trustees.

Ron also served as Counsel for the Canton Repository. His community activities have included United Way Chairmanships, and as Legal Counsel for the Presbytery of Muskingum Valley and Buckeye Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and as the former Chairman of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce and received the Chamber's Community Award of Merit in 2002. In addition, Ron was the 2004 Honoree of the Wilderness Center's Annual Earthly Delights Benefit Auction in recognition of a long-standing commitment to Stark County and the community. He has served as the president of Shady Hollow Country Club and the Canton Club and is a JCI Senator. He was past Chairman of the Keep America Beautiful – Keep Canton Clean Steering Committee and is a member of the Board of Directors the Canton/Stark County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and a member of Firestone Country Club.

Ron and his wife, Carole, reside in Canton. They have a son, daughter and three grandsons.
