Overview
Combining a Blue-Collar Upbringing with a Knack for Law to Advocate for Injured Workers
David Slepski is an Associate Attorney at NRS Injury Law, focusing on workers’ compensation law. Building on an upbringing in blue-collar Ohio and drawing from a background in the trades, service sector, and workers’ compensation law, David combines an essential mix of working-class relatability and impressive legal knowledge and strategy to get results for injured Ohio workers.
From the Trades to Law School to Workers’ Compensation Law
Born and raised near Youngstown, David is the son of a teacher and a medical worker. With all four grandparents working in auto and steel manufacturing, David grew up around blue-collar workers who faced a high risk of injury simply by showing up to work every day. Throughout high school, undergrad, and law school, David worked as a cashier at Sam’s Club, a gas station clerk, and a Sherwin-Williams paint store associate. He served as an intern in the U.S. and Ohio State Houses, and provided clerking and receptionist services for law firms.
“As I went through high school and college, I felt drawn towards law,” David says. “Given my work background and my upbringing near Youngstown, I learned early on that my calling was to become a workers’ compensation attorney so I could advocate for those who have been injured in the line of work.”
David graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in international relations. He earned his law degree from Capital University and his Essential Legal Research license and certification through Thomson Reuters.
Working Closely with Clients to Win Fair Compensation
David represents NRS Injury Law’s clients from the firm’s Cincinnati office, though he has connections with doctors and providers in Columbus, Dayton, Cleveland, Youngstown, and across the state. “I’ve always wanted to help people,” David mentioned, reflecting on the trajectory that brought him to his role at NRS Injury Law. “I realized pretty early on that the legal field was my best vehicle for being hands-on with my goal to improve others’ lives and secure tangible results for them.”
David works closely with his clients throughout every step of the workers’ compensation process. He fully understands the emotional and psychological costs of being injured at work, costs that go well above and beyond the physical injury. “I understand what my clients are going through because their lived experience is my background and upbringing,” he said. “Being able to relate to my clients, stand on equal footing with them, and work cohesively as a team, those aspects being in place allow us to work together to craft winning cases that will get them the benefits they’re entitled to.”
Work/Life Balance
When he’s not working at the firm’s Cincinnati office or traveling throughout Ohio to meet with clients, David spends his free time with his wife and their daughter. David is a lifelong Cincinnati Reds and Bearcats fan, but as much as he loves a good evening attending a sports game, he also enjoys quality time at home with the family. David also cherishes family trips to Mauritius to visit his wife’s parents and extended family.
Don’t Wait to Seek Legal Help from David Slepski
To David, one of the most critical puzzle pieces in building winning cases for injured workers is harnessing institutional knowledge while simultaneously leveraging connections with physicians, examiners, and other industry experts throughout the state. “Whether or not you have the resources you need will often make or break your case,” David says. “NRS Injury Law is the largest workers’ compensation law firm in Ohio and has done what no other firm has: fostered meaningful connections with doctors, examiners, legislators, hearing officers, judges, justices, and every possible opinion leader you can imagine in the workers’ compensation space. The firm’s vast institutional knowledge combined with its statewide outreach makes it unstoppable when it comes to representing injured workers and ensuring they receive the compensation they deserve.”
David’s work ethic, tenacity, and attention to detail align perfectly with NRS Injury Law’s mission to: “Provide empathetic and patient service to every person who calls the firm, and to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcome on behalf of every client by putting collective experience, knowledge, and passion to work every day.” To retain an effective legal team with a proven track record and to speak with David and the firm about your case, call 855-468-4878 or fill out a convenient online contact form.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
