Attorney Information

Overview

In everything he does, Spencer is an advocate. From his fifth-grade speech preaching the value of America's public libraries to his continued work with the University of Cincinnati College of Law as a coach and mentor, Spencer has always found a way to blend his love for public speaking with his passion for knowledge and education.

In 2018, Spencer won the American Mock Trial Association's National Championship with Miami University's Mock Trial team. In 2019 he was the only returning team member from the National Champion roster and, as President of the program, he won his second All-American award and helped the team defend that Champion title. Spencer remains one of the most decorated competitors in AMTA history.

In 2019, Spencer graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a degree in Music. The years he spent on stage and in practice rooms, as well as studying under the very best mentors and coaches, have yielded a rare but tempered confidence and comfort standing in front of judges and juries alike.

Spencer's competitive spirit and winning record followed him to UC Law, where Spencer competed for the college's Moot Court and Trial Advocacy teams. In his first semester of law school, he was named Best Attorney at the Ohio Attorney General's Trial Team Competition. That award was followed by numerous others on the national level in both trial and appellate settings. Upon graduation, Spencer was awarded the Order of the Barristers, the Neil Weil Service Award for National Excellence in Moot Court, and the John W. Peck Award for Excellence in Trial Practice.

Today, Spencer rigorously fights for the firm's clients in class action cases, bringing an empathy and a humanity that often surprises and reassures his class representatives and other class members. Every day, Spencer is thankful for the opportunity to bring his battle-hardened advocacy skills to bear for people who deserve justice.

When he isn't in the office working for his clients, or at the College working for his students, you can find Spencer around the Queen City taking in as much live music as he can find, out on the golf course with his dad, or preparing a nice home cooked meal.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
