Overview

W. Scott Gaines is a partner in the firm’s Electrical & Electronics Practice Group. His practice focuses primarily on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications directed to electronic and electromechanical devices and systems, photonics, electromagnetics, semiconductors and semiconductor processing, control systems, signal processing, and power systems.

Scott received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1991, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1994, both from the University of Cincinnati. His undergraduate studies concentrated on electronics and electromagnetics, and his graduate studies concentrated on electromagnetics, semiconductor physics, and semiconductor device fabrication.

After graduate school, Scott worked as an engineer in the aerospace/defense electronics and telecommunications industries for 12 years before entering the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Scott graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 2009 and has been registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a patent attorney since 2010.
