Attorney Information
Overview
Bill Wyler moved his practice to Flagel & Papakirk LLC in 2016, after more than 25 years at another firm, because of F&P's fast growing reputation as an outstanding law firm, with a concentration on solving business related legal issues.
Bill's practice focuses on trademarks and copyrights. His practice includes trademark and copyright registration and licensing; prosecution and defense of trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights involving infringement and misappropriation claims and drafting, prosecuting and defending non-compete, non-solicitation and non-disclosure agreements.
He has chaired both the Ohio State Bar Association Computer Law Committee and the Board of Governors of the Intellectual Property Section. He has also chaired the Cincinnati Bar Association Computer Law Committee. He has received an AV rating (the highest possible rating) from Martindale-Hubble, the rating service used most by lawyers, for 18 consecutive years. He has been named by American Lawyer Media, as a "Top Rated Lawyer in Intellectual Property," every year since 2013. He has also been named a "Super Lawyer" and was named a Cincinnati Magazine “Top Lawyers” for 2026 for Intellectual Property. He served for ten years on the Cincinnati Bar Association's grievance committee, which investigates attorney misconduct and makes recommendations for discipline to the Ohio Supreme Court.
He was appointed, by Chief Justice Thomas Moyer, to the Ohio Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Court Technology and he served on the Board of the Center for Information Technology and the Law, which was a joint project of the University of Cincinnati College of Law and the School of Business. He taught Computer Law at both the University of Cincinnati College of Law and Salmon P. Chase College of Law. He is invited to speak regularly at both legal and business seminars.
He is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States, all courts in the State of Ohio, the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and for the Federal Circuit. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
