Alexandra Lavelle - Cleveland, OH

Born and raised in Strongsville, Ohio, Alex pursued her bachelor’s degree in journalism at Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism where she graduated summa cum laude in 2017. She then went on to attend Florida State University College of Law as a Preeminent Scholar, where she graduated cum laude with her Juris Doctorate in 2020.

While at FSU, Alex committed her time to work at the Public Interest Law Center where she focused on a mix of family-law-related issues; the representation of children in the adult prison system with a special focus on the surrounding policy issues; and providing legal services to individuals seeking injunctions for protection against their abusers. These experiences helped to better instill and hone a passion for helping those in their moments of need, especially during the most isolating of times.

Alex is dedicated to shedding light on injustice and working to improve the quality of life for those who have been historically disadvantaged. She believes that those who have the power to make a change in this world have a duty to work towards that goal.

Upon graduation from law school, Alex returned home so she could pursue that goal in the community that meant so much to her. She was admitted to the Ohio bar in 2020 and joined a boutique plaintiffs' civil-litigation firm. During her time there, Alex was involved in various civil-rights cases with a specific focus on Title IX litigation involving K-12 school districts. These cases successfully held the school districts accountable for their sex-based discrimination and mistreatment—and resulted in settlements for the clients.

Alex currently serves on the boards of both Legal Aid of Western Ohio and Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE).

She is admitted to practice in Ohio and the U.S. District Court for the Northern Ohio.
