Overview
Cory J. Martinson joined Cavitch in August 2016 and is a Shareholder in the firm’s Business Law and Litigation practice groups. Cory advises and represents businesses, families, and individuals across a broad range of legal matters. He frequently serves as outside general counsel for closely held corporations in diverse industries, providing practical and strategic advice to help clients navigate complex challenges.
In addition to his legal practice, Cory contributes to the legal profession as a co-editor of Matthew Bender & Co.’s publications, Current Legal Forms and Ohio Transaction Guide, where he authors chapters on Limited Liability Companies and Copyrights, respectively.
Cory earned his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, where he also received a Certificate in Dispute Resolution. While at Moritz, he gained hands-on experience in the Entrepreneurial Business Law Clinic, supporting start-ups and small businesses with critical legal services. He also interned with the Ohio House of Representatives and volunteered as a mediator for Franklin County Municipal Court.
Cory holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies from Heidelberg University, graduating summa cum laude with honors. At Heidelberg, he was an Academic All-American wrestler and served as the student commencement speaker.
Born and raised in Brunswick, Ohio, Cory is a proud graduate of St. Edward High School. He now resides in Middleburg Heights with his wife, Natalie, and their two sons.
