The Becker Law Firm LPA
Cleveland Medical Malpractice Lawyer
Overview
David's interest helping medical malpractice and personal injury victims started early in life when his mother passed away of breast cancer. Aside from deep sadness, his family felt that her doctor made mistakes and should have detected her cancer earlier. The event got him thinking about what the doctor should have done and, more importantly, all that his mom and family lost from the mistake. Wanting to understand how the law worked in taking care of people who suffer life-changing events from the mistakes of others, the event ultimately lead him to law school and has stuck with him throughout his years of practice.
He joined a small personal injury firm out of law school to get immediate experience in preparing and conducting trials in auto accident cases and others involving medical errors. To better craft his trial skills, he moved to a large Cleveland area firm where he worked for 7 years defending hospitals, physicians, nursing homes and medical device makers in cases of alleged malpractice. His cases often involved people who unfortunately died or were disabled as the result of errors in medical care, and even infants and children who suffered crippling injuries at birth or early in life. This work allowed him to gain expert trial training in matters involving the most severe injuries, where the damages sought were often several million dollars.
In 2008, David got back to representing injury victims and their families when he joined a firm in Virginia that represented railroad workers throughout the country who were either killed or disabled from accidents they suffered at work. Despite several great trial successes in representing injured railroaders, David and his wife missed their extended families and hometown friends, and later decided to relocate back to Ohio, where he joined the formidable team at the Becker Law Firm in 2012. Like the Becker Law Firm, David's approach to helping personal injury victims involves two things: (1) intense client communication; and (2) relentless preparation during investigation and throughout a lawsuit. By understanding his clients' experiences as if they were his own, he is able to best teach trial juries about accident victims and their families, their hardships, the wrongs of the events that cause them, and how his clients' lives are forever changed.
INTERESTS/HOBBIES
When he is not working, you can generally find David either working in his yard tinkering with some repair, at a youth soccer game, or out at a park walking the dog with his family. He also considers himself a seasoned "Pitmaster", and enjoys grilling and preparing meals with his wife, Heather, who runs her own food service business and is an outstanding cook!
