José Mendez Valdez joined Cavitch in September of 2024 as an Associate Attorney.

José earned his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Cum Laude. During law school, Jose served as President of both the Student Bar Association and the Latinx Law Student Association, and as the Operations Editor for the Case Western Reserve Law Review. He also completed a judicial externship with The Honorable Solomon Oliver, Jr., U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

Before attending law school, Jose earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Cleveland State University. During his undergraduate studies, Jose was the Vice President of the Campus Activities Board and worked as a research assistant analyzing local government social media engagement strategies.

José was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and is fluent in Spanish. In his spare time, he enjoys film, Survivor, and cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
