Overview

Kathleen J. St. John brings more than 30 years’ experience to Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy. A vital part of our legal team, Kathleen is the head of the firm’s Appellate Department; and has been a partner of this firm since 2001. Focusing her practice on Appellate Law, Personal Injury, Wrongful Death, and Medical Malpractice Law, Class Actions, and Complex Tort Litigation.

In 1982, Kathleen earned her Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, graduating cum laude. After law school, she was a former Judicial Law Clerk in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Judge Alvin I. Krenzler.

For the past 18 years, Kathleen has been selected to Ohio Super Lawyers for Appellate Law. She has also been included in The Best Lawyer in America ® for Personal Injury since 2017.

Kathleen is a past president of the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys (CATA). She was instrumental in the revival of the CATA News magazine, a biannual scholarly and informational legal publication, and has been its Editor-in-Chief of the CATA News for the past ten years. Kathleen has written numerous articles for legal publications, including the CATA News, Ohio Trial, and the Ohio Association for Justice (OAJ) Quarterly. Also has been a frequent lecturer and panel member, including for The Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College, the OAJ, and The Judicial Conference of the Eight Judicial District.

Taking particular interest in the academic success of young adults, she has acted as a volunteer judge for the Ohio High School Mock Trial program sponsored by the Ohio Center for Law Related Education. She also has volunteered in the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s 3Rs program teaching constitutional law to tenth grade students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Kathleen was formerly a volunteer instructor in both adult literacy and English as a second language (ESL) programs sponsored by Project Learn.
