William Hatt is an Associate at Cavitch, focusing on litigation. He brings a strong academic and practical background to the firm, having recently earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law where he was a Dean’s Honors List recipient every semester.
During law school, William distinguished himself through a variety of roles and activities. He was a two-year member of both the Akron Law Trial Team and the Moot Court Honor Society. His achievements on the Trial Team include a 2nd Place finish in the 2023 OAG Mock Trial Competition and being a Regional Finalist in the 2024 AAJ STAC. As a member of the Moot Court team, he competed in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition in both 2024 and 2025.
William also served as an Academic Success Program Fellow for Civil Procedure and co-founded the International Law Society at the University of Akron. He was a Student Coordinator for the Akron Law Expungement Clinic, assisting with client management and court filings. His academic excellence was recognized with CALI Awards for achieving the highest grades in Law, Economic Development, and International Trade, and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Prior to law school, Hatt earned a BCom Honors in Management with a focus on Finance from the University of Toronto. His professional experience includes a summer as a Law Clerk at Kim & Associates, where he drafted motions and briefs, and a Research Assistant role for Professor Y.S. Lee. He also holds a fellowship with the Law & Development Institute.
William is a native English speaker with conversational proficiency in Spanish. His personal interests include tennis, visiting museums, and camping.
