Payton J. Genis - Columbus, OH

Payton Genis joined Leeseberg Tuttle as a law clerk in January 2022 during her second year at Capital University Law School. While in law school, Payton was the President and founding member of Capital's Tort and Injury Law Society and served as an Education Manager for the National Plaintiffs' Law Association. Payton also received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award, an award that recognizes excellence achievement by law students and is given to the highest scoring student in a particular law school course, in her Intellectual Property course at Capital Law.

Payton remained as a law clerk at Leeseberg Tuttle throughout her second and third year at Capital Law, and officially joined the firm as an associate attorney in November 2024. Payton focuses her practice on medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury litigation and is dedicated to zealously advocating for her clients, all while maintaining empathy, patience, and compassion.

Prior to starting her legal career, Payton graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Multi-Media/Photojounalism. From 2018-2021, she worked in Des Moines, Iowa as a creative copywriter with the Meredith Corporation, drafting direct mail copy for a variety of magazines, such as People, Magnolia Journal, and Entertainment Weekly. When the Covid Pandemic hit, Payton decided to utilize her extra time indoors to study for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) in the evenings after work, which ultimately prompted her move to Ohio, her attendance at Capital Law School, and the commencement of her journey dedicated to the love of the law and helping others. Outside of the courtoom, Payton enjoys binge-watching true crime documentaries, exploring all that Columbus has to offer, which includes trying new activities and restaurants with her fiancé, as well as attending local dog parks and corgi meetups with her two corgis.
