Overview
A native of the Dayton area, Jim attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1989 with a degree in Government and International Studies while also participating in the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Upon graduation from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1992, Jim served as an active duty Air Force officer in the Judge Advocate General Corps and worked as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida. Jim left active duty status as an Air Force Captain in 1997 and returned to Dayton where he was fortunate enough to be employed at Bieser, Greer & Landis.
Over the ensuing three decades, Jim has been devoted to a broad and rewarding litigation practice. Given his background as a military trial counsel and later defense counsel, Jim transitioned into an active federal and state criminal practice with a focus on white collar cases. He has handled complex white collar and government regulatory actions in a variety of state and federal jurisdictions, including several high-profile federal criminal prosecutions. He has argued before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court.
Over the past several years, Jim’s litigation practice has extended to medical malpractice defense on behalf of physicians, nurses, hospitals, and other medical care providers. Jim has also defended physicians and nurses in State Medical Board proceedings, and various other professionals before the SEC, FINRA, NASD, and Ohio regulatory agencies.
Jim is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, and has frequently been named Lawyer of the Year, Criminal Defense: White Collar by Best Lawyers in America.
