Attorney Information

Overview

John has been aggressively representing the interests of his clients for over 30 years. He is one of StachlerHarmon’s founding members and serves as the firm’s managing partner. John was born and raised in Cincinnati and, for his entire life, he has been no stranger to the practice of law. He grew up in a household where the practice of law was a family business. John was taught as a young man that tenacity and grit is what it takes to serve a client's legal needs in and out of the courtroom.

In Cincinnati, John attended high School at St. Xavier and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in business at Xavier University. John then attended the University of Dayton School of Law where he graduated in 1994. John is licensed to practice in both Ohio state and Federal courts. John’s practice focuses on dispute resolution and he handles a wide variety of cases from personal injury, wrongful death, contract disputes, wealth transfer disputes and construction disputes. John frequently co-counsels with other attorneys and offers professional assistance and local counsel assistance on a variety of legal matters in local courts.

John has been recognized as a Rising Star and a Super Lawyer for over 20 years in the practice area of General Litigation. Super Lawyers is an honor given to the top 2.5% of lawyers in Ohio. Recently, John has developed a passion for alternative dispute resolution where he currently serves as a mediator and has founded the mediation firm RE:SOLUTION. RE:SOLUTION has a dedicated office space in Dayton where in-person mediations are conducted.

John and his wife raised four children in Springboro, Ohio where John was a football, basketball and lacrosse coach. John has served on the board of directors for both the Springboro Wee Panthers and Springboro Lacrosse Club. John was very instrumental in building Springboro’s youth lacrosse program which to this day is one of the largest youth lacrosse programs in the area. In addition to serving his clients, John also is very active in a food ministry he co-founded named Grace2 Griddle. Grace2Gridde is a mobile food ministry that travels around the area to serve individuals with food security issues across the Dayton and greater Cincinnati area.

John is a very proud Grandpa and in his free time enjoys spending time with his family on Lake Cumberland or in Florida.

Your Profile?  Update Now

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
