Overview

Cassandra A. Rodríguez is the founding partner of the law firm Rodríguez & Porter, Ltd. She graduated with her Juris Doctor from Salmon P. Chase College of Law after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Cincinnati, where she majored in Spanish Studies and minored in Philosophy. Cassandra is bilingual in Spanish and English. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyer's Association and local bar associations. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio, the federal immigration courts (Executive Office of Immigration Review) as well as the Southern District Federal Court.

Cassandra focuses her practice on immigration law in the areas of family immigration, and deportation defense. She is not afraid to tackle complicated immigration cases and has successfully obtained U.S. Residency for immigration clients through complex processes such as I-601 and I-601a provisional waivers, Asylum and Cancellation of Removal cases. Cassandra has also been successful in re-opening removal proceedings for people who have final orders of removal/deporation.

In her criminal practice, she has won jury trials for people accused of serious crimes such as DUI, and high felonies like Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Burglary. Cassandra also handles crimmigration matters such as withdrawals of guilty pleas and counseling immigration clients who have pending or completed criminal matters.

She is a Cincinnati native, of Greek-Cypriot, Italian and Slovak descent; although she likes to say she is 100% Ecuadorian by marriage to her husband Ric, who immigrated from Quito, Ecuador. She and Ric have two beautiful children together, Eleni and Estevan. She and her family are long time members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Cincinnati. And, in her spare time, she enjoys gardening, crafting, tending to her dogs, Manchas and Peluche, as well as caring for her flock of chickens.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
