Overview
A lifelong resident of Lancaster, Scott graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Ohio University, with a degree in Political Science, History, and Philosophy. He attended The Ohio State University College of Law, where he received his law degree, with honors, in 1994. While in law school, Scott was a member of The Ohio State Law Journal on Dispute Resolution and served as a judicial extern with Ohio Supreme Court Justice Craig Wright.
Scott is an experienced trial attorney and litigator, aggressively representing individuals accused of committing felonies, misdemeanors, traffic offenses and juvenile offenses. Scott also represents the rights of individuals who have been seriously injured and families who have suffered a wrongful death.
Scott is certified as a specialist in Criminal Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and he is the only certified specialist in Fairfield County and only one of seven in the entire state of Ohio.
Scott has successfully argued two cases before the Supreme Court of Ohio on behalf of his clients and has tried over 100 jury trials in his career. He also is a certified criminal trial attorney by the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Scott belongs to numerous professional associations and has served on and chaired numerous volunteer boards, including chairing the Fairfield County United Way Board of Review. He is a past president of the Fairfield County Bar Association and since 2012, Scott has been selected by his peers as one of the top lawyers in the State of Ohio by Super Lawyers and the National Trial Lawyers.
