Overview
Shantya is a devoted family law attorney, dedicated to guiding clients through life's most challenging moments. Her interest in family law began in law school, where she took a family law course and interned with the Domestic Violence and Civil Protection Order Clinic, representing clients in civil protection and stalking orders.
After being born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Shantya proudly calls herself a double Bearcat—earning her B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati in 2019 and graduating from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2023.
Known for her honest and empathetic approach, Shantya is especially skilled at remaining calm under pressure, ensuring that her clients feel supported and understood throughout the legal process. She genuinely cares about her clients' well-being and works tirelessly to protect their interests.
Prior to joining the firm, she worked with the Ohio Innocence Project, advocating for the wrongfully convicted. She also gained valuable experience interning at the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. She looks forward to continuing to grow her professional expertise in family law and making a meaningful difference in the lives of her clients.
She brings her strength from the Ohio Innocence Project to the areas of domestic relations and juvenile law where she now guides clients throughout southwest Ohio through divorce, dissolution and custody matters.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
