Attorney Information

Overview

Matthew Boldt, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, received his undergraduate education from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science & Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Matthew is a distinguished alum of Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley Law School, graduating Cum Laude. Matthew’s legal background is strong and diverse: he has spent the last decade preparing for his role as an attorney.

As the son of one of Kirner and Boldt’s founding partners, David Boldt, Matthew’s interest in the legal field started early and he spent eight years helping support Kirner and Boldt Co., L.P.A. in areas such as client intake, legal research and document drafting. While earning his Juris Doctor from WMU, Matt picked up considerable experience in mediation from Paula K. Manis of Paula K. Manis PLLC, as well as in civil and domestic litigation and defense at Loomis, Ewert, Parsley, Davis & Gotting, PC, where he worked full-time during law school. He also honed his talents in pretrial and trial advocacy as well as negotiations at the Michigan Trial Skills Academy. Matthew’s extensive background in law has helped to prepare him for the estate and trust planning, estate and trust administration, business law, and civil litigation cases he currently takes on.

Matthew is an active member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Parma Bar Association. He has been admitted to practice law in both Ohio and South Carolina. He has also been admitted to practice in Federal Court through the Ohio Northern District. When he is outside of the office and professional environment, Matthew loves spending time with his dog Rosie, a sweet Australian Shepard Border Collie mix that he rescued during his time at Duquesne. He also enjoys spending time outdoors attempting to develop his golf game, skiing, fishing, and hiking.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
