Overview
Joel M. Spitzer grew up in Marion and Bucyrus. After graduating from Bucyrus High School, Joel joined the United States Air Force to earn money for college. Joel attended The Ohio State University where he earned a B.A. in Political Science, History, Sociology, and Criminology. Joel continued his education, earning a Master’s in Education from Wright State University. After graduating from Wright State, Joel became a teacher. Joel later attended the University of Dayton, where he is a Ph.D. candidate. Through his Ph.D. coursework, Joel earned a school administration license and a school superintendent license. During his Ph.D. coursework, Joel also attended University of Dayton’s law school, earning his Juris Doctorate. Joel is licensed to practice law and is in good standing as a member of the Ohio Bar and U.S. District Courts.
Community Involvement:
Joel deeply cares about his community. Having grown up in poverty, Joel strives to empower others to overcome the obstacles and mindset growing up in poverty creates. Life events have shaped Joel and as a member of the US Air Force, Joel learned service before self. Joel is committed to ongoing charitable efforts that involve free cars for single mothers, pro bono legal work, and other ongoing efforts to mitigate the effects of poverty. Joel currently serves the public through an elected position in Delaware County and hopes to widen his scope of helping others by running for State Senate for the 19th District of Ohio.
