Overview
Robert P. King has practiced law with Bugbee & Conkle since 1985, primarily representing both state fund employers and self-insured employers in workers' compensation defense throughout Ohio, including Toledo, Lima, Mansfield, Cleveland, Akron, Cambridge, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Portsmouth, among other hearing districts. Rob successfully defends employers in workers' compensation disability and injury claims, such as claim and death allowances, permanent total disability, temporary total disability, additional and psychological condition allowances. Rob regularly appears before the Bureau of Workers' Compensation and the Industrial Commission of Ohio, including hearings before district hearing officers, staff hearing officers, and the full Industrial Commission. Rob also represents employers before the Bureau of Workers' Compensation's Self-Insured Employers Evaluation Board (SIEEB), as well as the Self-Insured Review Panel on matters regarding self-insurance compliance. Rob advises employers on issues involving compensability of claims, self-insured complaints, self-insured administrative rules, the administration of claims for injured workers, violation of specific safety requirements (VSSR), setting reserves, and proper claim management.
Rob received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Davidson College in 1980 with a degree in Economics. He received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1983. Rob has practiced law in Toledo continuously since 1983. Rob is a frequent lecturer throughout Ohio at various institutes and seminars presented by bar associations, the Northwestern Ohio Self-Insurers Association and the Ohio Self-Insurers Association. Rob is a former four-term President of the Northwestern Ohio Self-Insurers' Association. Rob also is a past two-term chairman and a current member of the Workers' Compensation Committee of the Toledo Bar Association and a member of the Toledo and Ohio State Bar Associations.
Outside the practice of law, Rob has been active in community affairs, including Toys for Tots. Rob has led annual toy drives collecting toys and donations for the Northwestern Ohio Toys for Tots program since 1992. Rob is married to his wife Anna and has three children, Katie, Kelly and Brian.
