Overview
After graduating from high school, Wayne was a foreign exchange student in Stockholm, Sweden where he met his wife, Christina. Wayne pursued his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York and graduated cum laude in 1979 with a major in Psychology. He graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law, cum laude in 1982. Wayne served on the law review and worked at the school's legal clinic. While in law school, Wayne completed an internship at the City of Kettering Law Department. After graduating from law school, Wayne worked for several years in the corporate law department for Miami Valley Hospital. Thereafter, he served as Vice-President of Human Resources and General Counsel for Fidelity Health Care before entering private practice with the prestigious law firms of Beiser, Greer & Landis and Freund, Freeze and Arnold. As a trial lawyer, Wayne participated in a wide range of cases including medical malpractice, employment and business litigation. During his distinguished career, Wayne has a special interest in probate law and estate planning and has also litigated several probate will contest and undue influence cases. Wayne is licensed to practice in all Ohio State Courts, including Federal Courts in the Southern District of Ohio, the Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
In addition to being active in his local church, he has served as the co-founder and Chairman of the charitable organization Shoulder to Shoulder providing medical, education and nutrition services for resource poor individuals in rural Honduras. In that capacity, Wayne has negotiated and obtained contracts with the Honduran Government to provide health care to over 70,000 Hondurans. He has also negotiated contracts with the Honduran Department of Education for the first public bilingual school in Honduras. Shoulder to Shoulder has deployed computer assisted learning tablets to over 15,000 students in more than 50 public schools. Prior to the pandemic, Shoulder to Shoulder provided micro-nutrient supplementation to over 3,000 children, between 6 months and 6 years of age who were at the risk of malnutrition. That program now provides fresh eggs daily to 300 at risk children. More information about Shoulder to Shoulder may be found at www.shouldertoshoulder.org.
In his free time, Wayne enjoys general aviation. He is a private instrument rated pilot with over 450 hours of flight time. He also serves as an adjunct professor for Sinclair Community College teaching Aviation Law.
Wayne's area of practice includes medical malpractice and personal injury, probate law, business law, aviation law, and municipal law. He has a reputation of a seasoned litigator and problem solver. Wayne is a member of the Greene County, Miami County and Dayton Bar Associations.
He currently resides in Xenia, Ohio with his spouse, Dr. Christina Waite.
