Attorney Information

Overview

Sloan graduated from The University of Notre Dame in 2012 where she studied under the Great Books curriculum earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in Theatre and Performance Art. From a young age, Sloan has always loved to read, which drew her to the Great Books Program at Notre Dame. One of her favorite books growing up was To Kill a Mockingbird; that book inspired her passion for law and justice. Her Great Books education gave Sloan a comprehensive insight into how great minds in many different fields think, and instilled in her a passion for research, writing, and analytical thought. Her theatre education gave her confidence and helps her to this day in litigation and court appearances.

Sloan went on to Indiana University to earn her Juris Doctorate degree in Bloomington. In law school, Sloan was a Managing Editor for the International Journal for Global and Legal Studies, a Competition Coordinator for the Moot Court Competition and she served on the Dean's Advisory Board.

Upon graduating from Law School, Sloan clerked for Judge Williams of the Hamilton County Juvenile Court. In that role, she learned not only about the law and procedure that controls family and juvenile matters, but also invaluable insight into judicial deliberation and decision making. With that insight and a passion for utilizing the law to assist in family and child matters, she then transitioned to private practice with a focus on family law until joining The Lampe Law Office in 2024.

Sloan is well versed in areas of Family and Juvenile Law, including divorce, dissolution, child custody, domestic violence protection orders, and adoptions. She focuses on collaboration and settlement when appropriate and utilizes organized and effective trial strategy when necessary.

Sloan is committed to helping individuals navigate through difficult life transitions and strives to provide an empathetic ear and sound legal advice to all her clients. To Kill a Mockingbird is still one of her favorite books, and Sloan often calls to mind the advice of Atticus Finch - "You never really understand a person until you consider things from their point of view."

When not in the office, Sloan spends her time with her dog and her family, she can often be found lost in a book. She has had a lifetime passion for the arts and loves to attend theatre, music, and art shows.

    Hired Attorney 2023-2024
I didn’t want to do this because I thought highly of her and believed everything this she said, but nothings been fixed so here I am… She was in the middle of moving offices when she was working my case. Promised to finish it regardless of the move… she send a document for me to sign to finish things up and she either sent the opposing parties document by accident to sign or someone altered it at some point to be inaccurate. Didn’t find out until after signing it and it being signed off by a judge. I informed her immediately once finding this mistake and she acted like she was going to fix it but after months now it’s been crickets. Nothing was done. I’m in an absolutely worse position than I was before using her. Even reached out to her last boss and he said she should be willing to fix this… and if she doesn’t, I have to pay huge attorney fees again for someone else to. She’s obviously not after no response by phone and email. Avoid.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
